Michelle grew up in Nova Scotia and has attended The Salvation Army Kentville Community Church since she was seven years old. She attended many youth programs such as youth groups, Bible studies, and youth retreats, and she began volunteering with the church when she was 12 years old. Michelle has always considered herself a Christian, but her faith came alive when she attended Youth Together in Nova Scotia at the age of 17 when she experienced Jesus’ power for the first time. Since that weekend, she has been seeking Him and always wanting to experience more of His love.
After high school, Michelle went to Community College and studied Early Childhood Education. She graduated from NSCC in June 2017 with her ECE Level 2. Michelle also worked at Scotian Glen Camp for two summers as a Cabin Leader. Michelle has always loved working with children, and getting to share the love of Jesus with them at summer camp has been pretty special.
Michelle took the next step in her walk with Jesus in September 2017 when she moved to Oahu, Hawaii to be a part of a year-long Missions trip/ discipleship program called Revolution Hawaii. Through daily Bible studies, scripture memorization, prayer and worship, Michelle’s faith grew immensely. Michelle learned to share her faith with others through volunteer work at Family Treatment Centers, leading a women's Bible study, running children’s VBS, weekly Sunday school classes, helping out at Corp events and doing street ministry every Sunday night. This year in Hawaii was an absolute life changer for Michelle. She has seen God work in amazing ways and answer so many prayers. God has made Michelle a new creation, and has revealed so many new passions to her, including street ministry and youth ministry.
Michelle finished her year in RevHi by volunteering with the Ontario Camping Ministries for the summer, first at Jackson’s Point Camp as a Timothy 1 leader, then at Newport Adventure Camp as a Cabin Leader. She has loved being "Moana" to the children this summer! After the camping season ended, Michelle moved to Orangeville to begin working at New Hope as the new Youth Pastor.
Michelle is overjoyed to be given this opportunity to follow her passion and lead youth to Jesus. She looks forward to seeing how God plans to use her and love others through her in this new season.
My absolute favourite pastime is playing worship music and painting! Or snuggling some babies!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
"Remember: Jesus has already borne our sorrows and griefs. He’s the only one who has a heart large enough to carry them all. We need to commit the sufferings of the world to Him, rather than trying to take it upon ourselves."
