The KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) is an interactive and experiential teaching tool that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples in the land we now know as Canada.

Special Guest – Major Shari Russel

Shari Russel is Anishinaabe (Salteaux) registered with Yellow Quill First Nations in Saskatchewan. She has been married to Robert for 29 years and they have three boys: Charles, Gavin, and Brannon.

Shari & Robert have been Salvation Army Officers for 23 years with church appointments in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Sudbury. Shari has also been teaching faculty at the Salvation Army College for Officer Training in St. Johns, NL and Winnipeg, MB. She has also been an adjunct instructor at Booth University College, Tyndale University, and George Fox University. She has also served on Board of Directors for Booth University Board and as Chairperson for the Board Of Indigenous Pathways.

Currently residing in Hamilton, Shari is the Territorial Indigenous Ministries Consultant for The Salvation Army and has been seconded to NAIITS: An Indigenous Learning Community as the Associate Director. NAIITS is the only Indigenous designed, developed, delivered, and governed graduate and post graduate school of theological studies accredited by the Association Of Theological Studies (ATS).

She is currently a Ph.D. candidate with the University of Divinity in Melbourne, Australia through their partnership with NAIITS: An Indigenous Learning Community.
